IDENTIFYING THE ‘WEAK’ STUDENT

The following pointers are common indicators that may give cause for concern:
  • Lack of practical skills / theoretical knowledge commensurate with the student’s level of training
  • Inconsistent clinical performance
  • Lack of insight into weaknesses so unable to change following constructive feedback
  • Exhibits poor preparation and organisational skills
  • Poor communication, interpersonal or practical skills
  • Lack of interest / motivation
  • Absence of professional boundaries / poor professional behaviour
